Representation & Networking
We connect our member Assemblies to regional and global networks of local government associations, development agencies, and civil society actors. Through these partnerships, we promote South-South and North-South cooperation, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives that advance good governance and inclusive local development.
We serve as a bridge between local authorities and the central government, ensuring that the perspectives and challenges of assemblies are reflected in national policy dialogues, legislation, and development planning. Through active participation in national forums, committees, and stakeholder engagements, NALAG advocates for policies that strengthen decentralization, local governance, and resource allocation to local authorities.
Beyond national representation, NALAG maintains strong networks with regional and global associations of local governments, including partnerships with organizations such as:
-
United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLGA)
-
Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF)
-
United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG)
These collaborations enable knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and access to international funding opportunities for local development initiatives.
