Capacity Building & Training
We provide continuous training, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities for local government officials, Assembly Members, and staff of MMDAs. Through workshops, seminars, and exchange programs, we build the competencies needed to deliver effective services, foster innovation, and drive sustainable local development.
To this end, NALAG designs and implements comprehensive capacity-building programs aimed at equipping assembly members, administrators, and technical staff with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver quality public services.
Our training initiatives focus on both institutional development and individual performance enhancement, covering a broad range of thematic areas, including:
-
Local Governance & Leadership Development – Strengthening leadership skills, decision-making, and ethical governance at the local level.
-
Public Financial Management – Enhancing competence in budgeting, financial reporting, revenue mobilization, and fiscal accountability.
-
Strategic Planning & Project Implementation – Supporting assemblies to plan, implement, and evaluate development projects effectively.
-
Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) – Promoting inclusive participation and empowering marginalized groups within local governance structures.
-
Conflict Resolution & Mediation – Building the capacity of local officials to manage community disputes and promote peaceful coexistence.
-
Climate Action & Sustainable Development – Integrating environmental management and resilience planning into local development agendas.
NALAG delivers these trainings through workshops, seminars, field visits, mentorship programs, and e-learning platforms, often in collaboration with national institutions, development partners, and international organizations.
Through continuous learning and professional development, we ensure that Ghana’s local governments are equipped to govern effectively, innovate locally, and contribute meaningfully to the national development agenda.
