Support for Assemblies
NALAG plays a critical role in strengthening the institutional capacity of Ghana’s Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) by providing practical, continuous support to enhance their governance and service delivery functions.
We develop and share guidelines, operational toolkits, and standardized templates that help assemblies align with national policies and best practices in local governance. Through technical assistance and mentorship programs, we support Assemblies in areas such as:
-
Strategic and Development Planning – Assisting assemblies to design and implement effective Medium-Term Development Plans (MTDPs) in line with national priorities.
-
Financial Management & Budgeting – Providing tools for transparent budgeting, revenue mobilization, and prudent financial administration.
-
Performance Monitoring & Evaluation – Supporting data-driven assessment of local projects and services to improve accountability and results.
-
Administrative Efficiency – Offering templates and systems for documentation, meeting management, and inter-departmental coordination.
-
Citizen Engagement & Participation – Equipping assemblies with communication materials and participatory models to involve local communities in governance decisions.
-
Policy Implementation Support – Translating national-level policy directives into actionable local frameworks for seamless execution.
In doing so, NALAG ensures that all Assemblies—regardless of size or location—have access to the knowledge, tools, and institutional support needed to deliver efficient, transparent, and inclusive governance for their communities.
